How to Prepare for a Perfect Game Showcase

April 8, 20268 min readSBO Staff

What scouts actually look for, what to wear, what to do the week before, and how SBO players consistently move up the rankings.

At SBO, we don't guess. After more than 15 years building one of the most respected travel baseball organizations in Puerto Rico and Florida, we've seen what works — and what gets players left behind.

The system that built 164 commits.

Player development isn't a season. It's a stack of consistent reps, real coaching, honest film, and the kind of competition that exposes weakness early enough to fix it. We structure every age group around that idea — from 8U fundamentals to 18U showcase exposure.

Coaches who've actually played the game at a high level make the difference. Christian Rodriguez runs our developmental program. Jose Rodriguez runs the recruiting pipeline. Both have been doing it long enough to know what a college coach is going to ask before he asks it.

Why showcases aren't enough.

Showing up to a Perfect Game event isn't a recruiting strategy. We see kids every summer who paid for the spot, ran a 7.4, threw 82, and never heard from a coach. That's not the showcase's fault. The work happens twelve weeksbefore the showcase.

SBO players walk in with a plan. They know their numbers, they know which schools to talk to, and they know how to follow up. That's the part nobody teaches in a private lesson.

The Family — for life.

Once you're in SBO, you're in. Our alumni come back to throw to our 14U guys. Our 18U seniors mentor our 12U infielders. That isn't marketing. That's how we've built culture, year after year, since 2010.

That's The Storm Way. That's why it works.
